Interesting Perspective on the Ground Zero Mosque Controversy

In light of the ongoing Ground Zero Mosque controversy, a quote from President Dwight D. Eisenhower on the opening of a Washington D.C. Islamic Center in 1957:
I should like to assure you, my Islamic friends, that under the American Constitution, under American tradition, and in American hearts, this Center, this place of worship, is just as welcome as could be a similar edifice of any other religion. Indeed, America would fight with her whole strength for your right to have here your own church and worship according to your own conscience. This concept is indeed a part of America, and without that concept we would be something else than what we are.

Sure, it's interesting but it has nothing to do with the current Ground Zero Mosque question. Everyday something new comes out about the machinations that have led to the impasse. Just yesterday word in the New York Post that the proposed Mosque property got an accepted offer for the property of over $18 million for commercial development, a price of about $250 sq. ft., later it is sold for $4.8 million for a Mosque at about $100 sq. ft. Does that make sense to anyone? I wonder if President Eisenhower would care to comment?

There are roguhly the same number of Jehovah's Witnesses in the United States as Muslims. I wonder what the reaction would be if Jehovah's Witnesses had flown three jets into buildings, killing thousands and one into the ground, killing another hundred if they wanted to build a Kingdom Hall at Ground Zero? Would the State Department be flying a head Witness around the middle east to get funding for the Ground Zero Kingdom Hall at taxpayer expense? Let's say jehovah's Witnesses blew up the USS Cole and the two US Embassies killing hundreds, that they blew up the garage in the twin towers in 1993, that one of them murdered 13 and wounded 30 more at Fort Hood, if they tried to blow up their shoes and underwear on to separate occasions to blow up more civilian airliners? One disgruntled Witness left a big bomb in Times Square that didn't go off, by mistake. Witnesses were chopping off heads all around the world, stoning women to death and requiring non believers and woemn to take second class or worse status where they were in power and they had a lot of the worlds oil and used collusion to force the rest of the world to pay higher prices for it than the market would support? Well, I guess that we would trot out President Eisenhower's quotation and tell them to get that Ground Zero Kingdom Hall done right away with taxpayer help or we're not the United States. Right?

Oh yes, and we shouldn't forget that all of this Muslim outreach of crashing planes and bombing ships and bombing planes and attempted bombings of shoe and underwear on planes and garage WTC bombing and mass murder and maimings at military installations and attempted Times Square bombings hasn't been against the outreach Muslim religion it has been done in the name of the religion, for the religion by the religion against the infidel. I don't remember Ike talking up any Nazi monuments after WWII.
Muslim attacks on American soil or against American assets

It is time for christians to stand up an get even. We did it to the Negroes once. We can do it again.

Anyone who equates the entirety of the Muslim religion with the radical actions of an extreme minority is severely misguided.

Anonymous said...

One can't be a rational person in this day and age without wondering how large that minority is.

Right, Negroes. That is such a good point. Can't argue with that. Let me say right here and now, that if American taxpayers won't pay for the Ground Zero Mosque like they are paying for the construction and renovation of over 200 Mosques around the world that we are just regular racists. And the Ground Zero Mosque Imam whose day time job is as a New Jersey slumlord doesn't get some more taxpayer money for his slums and his Mosque that is also racist. Anyone who equates the Muslim religion with not getting special treatment by the government, which they are getting, must be a racist. Negroes. Rauf thinks Hamas is hunky dory. Negroes.

I'm amazed at the blinkered tribalism exhibited by these comments. Your anonymous posts do you no credit. If you want to slime a noble sentiment, put your name to it.

Your sentiment is slime and your brain is mush. Try responding to the facts and possibly mentioning one.
This has nothing whatsoever to do with the noble sentiment and you know it.

The imam and the developer are hustlers. They have been hustling taxpayer money and donation money for themselves personally and secondarily for their religious pursuits.

I didn't know that President Eisenhower was making comments on current events. Speaking to us from Arlington National Cemetery, the Supreme Commander of Allied Forces says, "Ground Zero Mosque?" "Why sure, if the Japanese are OK with it and Hiroshima and Nagasaki are a go, then so am I."

The freedom of religion argument is a red herring.
There are many Mosques in the US. Muslim people worship as they wish.
Christians in Muslim dominate countries do not seem to fare quite as well on tha whole.
Let us say I murder your spouse. Years later I wish to plce a monument to myself next to your spouses' grave.
You say no. I say you are infringing my 1st Amendment rights.
I also say that I know people who will kill a lot of your friends and family if I do not get my way.
I would never do that myself. I am a moderate don't you see.
