Geithner '83 in tax trouble?

The Wall Street Journal reports that Mr. Obama's nominee for Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner '83, may not have paid Social Security and Medicare taxes for a number of years, and seems to have a housekeeper with no immigration papers.

And here's Reuters with a summary of the debt.

TAX YEAR TOTAL TAX AND INTEREST

2001 $ 3,320

2002 $22,650

2003 $14,430

2004 $ 2,302

TOTAL $42,702

This is hardly the dealbreaker it sounds like:

Stupid post. You mention how much he underpaid in taxes without disclosing any of the relevant context--namely, that the discrepancies were due to especially convoluted tax laws reserved for American IMF employees, not an intentional effort on Geithner's part to underpay Uncle Sam. Or that he immediately paid everything back after realizing the oversight.

As far as your douchy reference to "Change we can believe in"...well, you got it exactly right without even meaning to. Obama's vetting team was responsible for catching this in the first place. Exactly what I would expect from an honest, transparent administration.

Get a life, Aubin. You've failed even at being a competent hack.

No one thinks he's "in tax trouble." His taxes have suggested to some that he could be in nomination trouble, but not deeply.

Why doesn't Dartlog investigate and report on the lawsuit? The D kind of threw down the gauntlet by reporting suspicions that the money man is former Review advisor John MacGovern. Can Dartlog get ahold of some of his fundraising emails, which are sent widely but have not been made public?

Big deal. He is no more dishonest than the average American. He just had a better opportunity.

He does not "seem" to have a housekeeper with no immigration papers. She has a green card. She had papers when he hired her, too.

Speaking of change we can believe in, can the blog administrator remove W. Aubin's posting access? These posts are painful.
