WW I Era Cannon Buried Under Memorial Field

Evidently a moribund alumnus had one last prank to get off his chest before he departs.

The local NBC station has their report here.

The gun is more likely the gift that used to stand in front of Memorial Field.

Actually, that gift gun was moved to Hanover Center in 1963.

Memorial Field commemorates those alums who served in WWI. Apparently the gift cannon was presented by the nation of France in 1920. Why was it removed to Hanover Center in 1963? Let's see it returned! Can someone provide more facts?
